You can carefully suspend reality with fiction, but non-fiction has to be 
real.  When I first read about Nadia being raised as a boy it took Helene 
writing back for me to get that the mother is a domineering bitch.  That is 
what I mean about the reader having to invest to much time into 
understanding the story.  If I were just reading the story I would put it 
down and not suggest it to others.
