Hi Ashley,
Welcome to Stylist! I am a 60-year-old writer from the Endless Mountains
of Pennsylvania. I have RP and am self-taught in Braille and have a
guide dog.
As far as writing goes, I have done a lot of nonfiction writing and PR.
I worked for years as a performer, songwriter and recording artist; I
did my own PR. Now I do PR for the NFB's Performing Arts Division. I
also write nonfiction articles on everything from blindness issues and
wildlife conservation to folk music for online magazines like Suite 101
(has revenue sharing) and American Chronicle (one of the many sites that
will carry your articles but not pay anything).
I am also finishing up my first novel, a fantasy featuring 2 14-year-old
refugees, one of whom is a girl with RP, who is just learning Braille
and how to use a computer. I am probably going to self-publish, since
companies expect you to do your own promotions anyway these days.
Hope to hear more from you.
Donna Hill
