Hi Ben,
If you're short on ideas, just pick a story from the local news like a 
county judge up on corruption charges, teen  causes the death of his 
three best friends in traffic accident while texting, family homeless 
after fire and so on and write the rest of the story -- either what led 
up to it or what came after. You can also practice by describing scenes 
from your life -- your home town, school, college, a favorite vacation 
spot. Chances are, once you start writing about anything, you will begin 
to recall the perspectives and incidents which have always interested you.
