My oh my! This list is being very quiet -- must be one of those rare times
when all are super busy, as in their noses are stuck to the keyboard,
writing and writing and writing and not reading email.

David- in regard to one of your questions, the payment of an editor. It is a
fee that is completely local and negotiable in nature. Like, if this person
has a track record of editing professionally for others, then there is a
thing about seeing what the local market will bear on cost- you look up
local advertisements for editing and see what they charge (the phone book,
internet adds, etc.). Or just do a Google search and see if there is anyone
out there that has similar credentials like this person you are talking to.

Another thought is -- figure out how much you could afford and give her that
figure and see if she'll take it. I mean, I've seen some people pay $2.00 up
to $10.00 per page.) But hey, I'd pitch on the low side, I believe you said
she's not done this for pay for some one else! And maybe also think- how
many hours would it take? Pay minimum wage.

Hello Everyone,

I have been on this list for a few days now and wanted to introduce myself.
My name is David and I have just completed my auto biography. It is my
first book written and I hope you don't mind a couple questions:

My editor and I are looking for a fair price for her to charge me, she is
well written but little experience in book editing. I'd like to pay by the
hour.

My auto biography book is approximately 280 pages by word count using a
typical paperback book format.

I have the option of self publishing and would like more information on this

as well.
Then again if I could find a publisher I'd certainly consider that route.

I hope to contribute as much knowledge to this list as possible and I'm
hopeful others will contribute theirs as well.

Thank You,

David Wermuth
