Congratulations, Ken. It makes a heart feel light as air to know others
appreciate our work.

Through the sunny fields of yesterday
Echo voices of children now grown,
Their golden peals of laughter
Ring upon the ivied stone.

Subject: [stylist] Member gets poem published!

I received the following message and we need to celebrate with this guy!

Hi Robert. My poem, To Know a Rose is being published in the Lodi Ca. Rose
Society's news letter. It was written as a tribute to one of my college
professors whose passion was growing roses. I don't know when it will appear
in print, but to be published is exciting. Ken Volonte

To Know a Rose

To know a rose you could use science,

Or on a shiny morning you could pass,

By where the old Professor propagated his varieties, Noting the gradations
from red to pink to white, To know Danny Boy and Mimiet and Imperial, Or you
could do what I do and just smell.

But we'll do science- I believe in science.

They say it's self correcting and so on.

To know a rose you'd have to break it down, Beyond petal and stem and thorn,
And know it at a cellular level.

But then you see you wouldn't have the rose.

In time you wouldn't have the memory;

And so as well for art or symphony.

It's the same for all things I suppose;

And so today I'll pass the house,

Where Louis Lighter bread his fine perfume, And recall the man he was in a
lecture room.
