I like those poems, especially the second one. Those are so High school!
I've a few of my own like that.
Barbara
Through the sunny fields of yesterday
Echo voices of children now grown,
Their golden peals of laughter
Ring upon the ivied stone.

A good friend asked off-list why my public posts always had to be so coarse,
argumentative and in the case of my creative writing, violent. The nerve.
So, I've decided to share three poems I wrote my junior year in high school.
They are completely frilly, but that's not even the worse part. I wrote the
second and third poems for my girlfriend at the time, and two years later
this other girl discovered I'd given her the same poems! I mean, how was I
supposed to know these two girls would ever meet! Anyway, end of Jerry
Springer moment. I will never again be this sharing on a public forum, but
I offer these in the spirit of showing my well-roundedness and to ensure
they are never recycled again, even though I originally posted them to
LovePoetry.com. Ah well, here they are.
Poem 1:
The Other Face
by J.S. Orozco
Like you, there is no other
To me you're like a brother
Which is why you have to know
That your girl is with another
She's found herself a lover
Who gives her honest passion
Who makes her life complete
In ways you can't imagine
But do not feel surprised
You've seen the sudden change
I'm sure you've realized
That her attitude is strange
I know it's been a while
Since she's given you a smile
And your number's not the one
She rushes home to dial
When you stop to tell her hi
She pretends she didn't hear
And her presence is so cold
Even when you have her near
You could have and you should have
But you did not treat her right
Now all of her affection
Will belong to him tonight
But do not hate this guy
You two weren't meant to be
Do not hate this guy
Because that guy is me
Poem 2:
Dr. Love
by J.S. Orozco
Hello there, doctor.
A pleasant day to you.
I've brought this serious illness.
You might know what to do.
But don't look at your pills,
Your nostrums or potions
Because medicines like those
Can't fix this guy's emotions.
It started when I met her
On a starry summer night.
I started talking to her
And decided she'd be right.
Not only was she pretty,
She was also very sweet.
Whenever things got icy
Her presence brought me heat.
But soon our time was over.
We hugged and sadly parted.
I thought I'd be okay
And then my sickness started.
It's like a raging fire
Burning deep within my soul.
It's like a strong addiction
Whose spell I can't let go.
What it was about her
I really do not know.
But every time I hear her,
I feel the symptoms grow.
You might call it depression
But it's not quite so serious.
Although, I must admit
Missing her makes me delirious,
Somewhere in my thoughts
Her words are always with me.
Letting go is hard
Because her presence feels so near me.
The sweetness of her lips
Pressed gently on my own.
The thought of her not with me
Is enough to make me groan.
In the middle of the night
I toss and turn in bed.
My heart begins to pound
As her laughter fills my head.
So tell me, doctor.
Has this happened to you?
And if your answer's yes,
Please tell me what to do.
Poem 3:
Deep Desires
by J.S. Orozco
On this quiet, placid night
As I make my way toward sleep
My heart beats to the tune
Of a love so pure and deep
Beautiful and sweet
Like the music of your voice
Your soft melodic laughter
So free and delighting
So smooth and inviting
And as I sit here writing
I think of how exciting
It would be to have you near
If I could have you here
I would steal away your fear
Protect you from all harm
And fill your heart with cheer
Not a single bitter tear
Would stain your angel face
Your heart, so warm and dear,
Locked in my strong embrace
Never mind the space
That keeps us far apart
Distance can't erase
This longing in my heart
This yearning in my soul
To share this night with you
To hear your every dream
To make them all come true
Regards,
Joe
