Good blog, very well written. I love the expressive language in it.
Usually, when I run into ignorance like that, its from someone who only knows one blind person, their 95-year old grandmother with issues besides blindness and does need assisted living.
And then there's my sighted wife who took physical ed. For the handicapped classes in college and learned attitudes about blindness from professors who have had these ideas handed down to them from the dark ages (which didn't end for people with disabilities until the 1970's). I had to explain that blind people do not have a superhuman sense of small.
Anyway, keep up the good work.
