[stylist] poem submission

Barbara,
I am shocked to hear the date of July, 2010. I still had it on my list to
respond to.
This poem portrays in a searingly palpable way the pain, despair, yet hope,
that you have experienced. It is so beyond what any of us can have
experienced.
With death, there is a resolve of sorts. You will forever have feeling,
emotions and problems that cannot easily be resolved, in your boys as well
as yourself.
The last line of your poem, however, captures the beauty in each child that
you have been enabled to see.
This is such a multi-faceted poem that it is difficult to address all the
parts. The basic metaphor is very effective. I like when you question why
you cannot turn the sand into beautiful glass. And I like the way you
describe your three sons as to their differences.
There is a great deal to praise. I would hate to critique it for any
weaknesses in rhyme, or meter for they are totally overshadowed by the
necessity for you to say this as you feel it. Any who read it will feel it,

It is well done. Your reference to poetry in your poem does not in fact
credit it or you with the fact that it is a primary healing art for you.
As long as you keep writing, you will keep enlarging your own landscape.
Your skills will grow to reach the increasing distance in your sight.
Jackie

And the reason they say that is it throws off the natural progression of
life. The older are always supposed to die before the younger. The death
of a child is also a tester of marriages. I don't know what percent divorce

when it happens but it can put much strain. So, too, does a handicapped
child. In the mid to late 80s, at the residential school I attended, only
1/3 of the children came from two-parent homes.

Here's a poem I wrote in regards to this which would also fit the crying
theme.

Jackie and others with a similar loss,

I watched the suffering my parents went through
with the loss of my brother. I never want to find
out, but the professionals in the world say there
is no greater greif than the loss of a child.
