[stylist] Reading audio books

Brad,
Unfortunately, catering to blind people is no longer a priority with
Learning Ally. Most of their subscribers have some form of learning
disability like dyslexia. Can't remember if it's 60 or 70 percent. This has
been going on for a while. My first wake up call was buying the Victor Vibe
CD player. The way I figure it, they had 3 common options for arranging the
buttons -- the telephone keypad, the calculator keypad and the old-fashioned
clock. They used none of these, but chose a quasi-clock format with random
groupings of the 12 buttons.
I'm just glad they removed the word "blind" from their name. I felt for a
long time like they were keeping it there for fund-raising purposes, and
there may still be some of that going on. The customer service person I
dealt with about the new download manager is blind and said she had alerted
them to the problem, but felt they needed to hear it from consumers.

It never ceases to amaze me how some blind and
visually impaired entities can totally miss it.
How can a place as this, miss having an
accessible download manager? Wow. Isn't that
their business? 'shaking head smile'.
