I can't answer most of your questions, but I note pop ups are ads that your computer may have disabled. There is a button to push called, "Enable remote content" or maybe one that allows the pop ups, but so far as I can tell they aren't accessible.

Subject: [stylist] blog advice
Hi all,
I’m trying to use wordpress as my blog. Any advice? How can I navigate the
dashboard and everything better? Often I cannot even down arrow to explor the
page and when I tab to links, it says “has popup” what on earth does that mean?
And whatever is on the page, maybe flash, is preventing me from reading it line
by line and exploring it. I don’t mean the blog site after its written; I can
read the blog text like a normal webpage; each blog post is a begins with a
heading.
I am also having trouble posting for this reason. I used to just go to dashboard
and click on add new. Then write my post! Often I wrote the title and copied
the text in from my word processor. Now I don’t see a link for that. I clicked
on new post. But I have trouble locating the link to actually write a post.
Also, can someone tell me what tags are and how to use them? How do they differ
from categories?
I noticed all blog posts are all one page, a mass of text.
Can I make a new page and do I do that from the dashboard? I want every two
weeks to be a new page. It would be easier to navigate that way for any readers!
If this doesn’t work out, I could switch sites, but I started it here and would
like to keep it if possible.
Ashley
