[stylist] has someone ever criticized your writing before?

As Lynda said what was told to you is not a critique and I agree with all else she said.  There is a huge difference between critique and criticism.   To critique means to be constructive in your suggestions to the writer. It is never personal and not should it be. I too am sorry someone told you this. It serves no purpose in helping you grow as a writer.
