[stylist] Revised thoughts on Kindle for PC

Ashley,
Kindle for PC comes with an accessibility add-on. Just Google "Kindle for PC
accessibility" and read up on it. I have it and it does work, but I haven't
figured out if there are any navigation options. I seem to remember a list
of keyboard commands for it, but honestly with all of the accessibility
headaches I've been having trying to get my book out, I just can't bring
myself to go back to it at this point. I did use it to prove to myself that
the proper version of my novel is on Kindle, but it only required reading a
few pages. You use Control r to read -- it's a synthetic female voice. I
know that the normal Jaws reading commands do not work, but what they have,
I don't know. Kindle has been troublesome for screen reader users all along.
They like to make little improvements and then pat themselves on the back as
if they'd just invented accessibility all by themselves.

But last I heard kindle software for pc was not accessible.
Has this changed? Did you download the software Donna?
If so, did you find it usable?

I have been Googling around and found that there is a Kindle for PC with an
accessibility plug-in that is tested with Jaws and NVDA. If it works as
promised, it should be a better idea than using the epub version with Adobe
Digital Editions.

It's a big download, and it wasn't working right till I did it from Firefox.
Too late to try it tonight.
