Subject: Copyeditor needed for The Journal of Blindness Innovation and
Research

Dear Mr. Newman,

I am the NFB staff member who serves as assistant managing editor of The
Journal of Blindness Innovation and Research, the NFB's online open access
journal dedicated to publishing scholarly and professional practice articles
on all aspects of blindness except the medical. We currently have five
articles in the copyediting process, but only one copyeditor who also has
many other duties to perform here at the Jernigan Institute. We are looking
for an individual who could perform the following duties on a volunteer
basis:

. Copyedit the article according to the rules of the Publication
Manual of the American Psychological Association (6th edition). This
includes providing changes, corrections, and comments on grammar, spelling,
punctuation, terminology, jargon, semantics, word flow, citation formatting,
visual formatting and layout, and accuracy of references to features like
hyperlinks and contact information.

. Generally work to ensure that the article is clear, concise, and
accurate.

. Use the "Track Changes" function to make changes and insert
comments into the initial and subsequent copyedited versions of the article.
Be prepared to provide notes and corrections using an alternative method if
the author is not able to access the "Track Changes" function.

I am hoping that you might be able to suggest someone who could assist us
with this work. Is there someone in the Writers Division that could do this
work? Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Please
feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Thank you very much.

Best regards,

Lou Ann
