Hello all,
I have been workingn on a spoken word poem that I would like to share
with you all. It's about assumptions of what we see on the surface and
assuming who they are.
Don't Assume
By Keitei Colton
Don't assume who I am
You see me and assume that I can
The hurtful words you speak fall onto Deaf ears
But the words you have have meaning
They tell me that I am wrong
Abnormal
An abomination
Disfiguring
Sick
Perverse
Not worthy
You see me and assume that I am white
What you don't know is that I bleed a rainbow of tears
For the words I speak, you cannot hear
The box I shout from is dark inside
No matter how much I try,
I cannot get out of my white box
The one that is marked with an F
What words can I use that will make you see
That I am more than just a white box marked with an F
I crave for the letter M
Maybe I am nothing more than just the letter F
But what you don't see is the letter M beneath the white box
I try to hide the hurt I feel when you say I can't
Who am I?
Just another white box marked with an F?
I am much, much more than the white box marked with an F
I am who I am
And nothing can change that
Kaden
