Bleh, We both had Samsung Havens and hated them. We are glad we upgraded
to the IPhone.

I'm still back in the previous century, kind of. I have one of those
talking phones called the Samsung Haven. It's a dumb phone. Maybe at
some point I will get a smart one. I originally asked this question
because we have XM for the car. XM offered me a free receiver, and I
could have paid another $9.95 to get the thing to play, but I turned it
down, because I had no idea if I could use it.

You know, you can download an XM radio app for IPhones and other smart
phones, and the phone is completely accessible. Can't speak for the app,
but this is a much cheaper option, and at least with the IPhone, I can
say it has great sound quality.

That's what I'm talking about. It doesn't have to be perfect. If I can
punch numbers in on a number pad and turn to channel 7, for the 70's or
channel 8 for the 80's, or whatever, I can make the thing do what I
want. I can probably go to the web site and get a list of channels. I
don't need the

thing to talk and tell me what I'm doing.

jim,
I was hoping to have a stand alone receiver too, which is why I made the
comment about not caring to listen to music on an I device. If the
receiver has buttons, it should be accessible enough to use; I may not
be able to read the display though but at least I could turn the
channels then.

great question! if I knew the receivers were accessible, I might
subscribe to the service. Even if I had a smart phone, I would not want
to listen to radio on my phone all the time. I like good high quality
speakers which I can hear through several rooms. I know that services
has an I phone ap, and I think I heard it was accessible; not sure about
other smart phone platforms though.
