[stylist] Possible writing exercise: genre writing

Hey list,

I really need an excuse to write something new, so how about a writing
exercise? We haven't done one in a while. Since a couple of new genre
writers have joined the list, maybe we can post our own short pieces of
genre. This is primarily a fiction and poetry exercise, but anyone
wanting to be experimental with nonfiction can certainly try their hand
at it. It doesn't have to be long or a complete story, just choose a
genre you enjoy-- western, romance, fantasy, SciFi, historical fiction,
etc. or a combo of any and see what happens. Or go further and challenge
yourself by choosing a genre you don't typically write in. It will be
fun. No pressure on deadlines, just post when you're ready, but man, I
need to take pen to paper here, it's been a while. I've been so focused
on editing lately, I need to work on my own writing for a minute, grin.
