[stylist] Poetry: Question About Blank Verse

It usually is, but I have done it in other meters. It does have to be kept in a consistent metrical scheme however but of course does not have to rhyme. This is what I have learned in my research. Free verse does not require a metric scheme or rhymed lines.
Hope this helps.
