Interesting poem. I'm not as up on my British royal history as I should be. If I were, I would probably get more out of it.

Subject: [stylist] Poem - "Henry VIII" - Second Draft

HI Gang,

So, having written the etude I have titled "Breeze", I've gone on to write a "real" poem titled "Henry VIII". I've been meaning to do something with Henry's story for some time and this morning seemed as good a time as any to get down to cases. I currently think that it rocketh mighty, but of course your mileage may vary.

*Henry VIII *

He was Europe's pride, her royal prize

with silver tongue and flashing eyes.

The ladies loved to dance with him,

while he was yet a sight, and slim

as wolfhounds weaned on prayer:

he quoted scripture,cut a rug,

his verse could tame the wild air

before becoming England's monarch thug.

Aragon he put away,

Anne he killed on Tyburn Hill:

the rest, they met with equal ill

Except for homely Ann of Cleves,

who did not fit his pander's bill:

she took from Henry princess pay,

to home returned with Hank's estates

while Henry raged behind his gates.

For those with flesh their hunger sate

will rarely fill their days with peace:

So give your henries headroom, please:

be Anne of Cleves, not Spanish Kate.
