Vejas,
You may not remember me but I think we met at writers' division
last year
at nationals. I am glad you decided to attend LCB. Everyone
that I know who
has attended has found the training and experience extremely
valuable to
them and come out of it totally prepared for life. I also like
to do some
reading as it relates to cultural context. I read a book some
months ago
about an Alaskan native who was a teenager, had not made good
choices and
was in trouble with the police and how he came to accept his
heritage. For
the life of me I can't remember the title of the book! It was on
BARD
though. I wouldn't recommend it for someone much younger than
you because
of some of the language and situations this fellow gets into, but
the
author's style of writing just pulls you right in and the
resolution of
this young man's situation is so satisfying at the end. It may
be that
someone else on-list has read the same one and can remember
better than me
the title. Either way I'm pretty sure you'll get some good
recommendations.

Hi All,
I know it's been a while. I have been busy with my life at LCB.
I am looking for good book recommendations. I really like
reading about
other cultures, so would like to read something that either
takes place in
another country, or is centered around a culture (like life as
an immigrant
or something like that).
Thanks.
