Hi, Vejas.
I think names can create sensory pictures in our heads.
In my current "Lucy and Lithe" series, (yep, it's now a trilogy), the people 
in the culture I've created all have names meaning 'love' or something to do 
with romance.
Because the culture of that planet worships love, and especially romantic 
love.
It creates an interesting challenge, finding non-Earthlike names that are 
familiar to us, but exotic enough to be a reminder that we're talking about 
another planet.

I've known it was you the whole time, as I don't know of any
other Alongis.
I always wondered this.
I suspected that you were just using your creative skills for
some name change fun.
I know of people who go by their middle as opposed to their first
name, including a friend where all the males (cultchrally) have
the same first name as each other and are referred to by their
middle names at home, but in the outside world they use this
common first name.  It has made things VERY confusing for him.
Names are only used to identify ourselves.  Whether your name is
Shelley, Joanne or Abracadabra, if you're a good person and do
what's right, who cares?

Hello Writers, I don't know if everyone pays attention to this or
not but I have had emails that I have sent come to you as Joanne
Alongi my middle name.  Originally I set up a yahoo account or
maybe both of them under my middle name I don't remember offhand
so I changed in the email address that I use for the subscription
to this list.  I thought I change this in settings are fixed it
but in order to avoid further confusion I just changed and email
address that shows my first name.  So if you are wondering who
Joanne Alongi is that would be me.  OK just wanted to clear that
up and let you know that I think I have the name challenge fixed
now.  If you have an email for me that shows Joanne you can keep
it if you want to communicate with me separately or delete it it
is your preference.  It's the same person I just have different
email addresses.  So I unsubscribed all my yahoo account's from
stylist.  I figured since I host the Division gatherings that I
should probably use just one name.  Anyway maybe it's my hyper
tendency for the organization.  :-) OK he will not go there
because even when I'm really organized I do crazy things like
forget when I run out of checks on accounts or whatever.  Anyway
just wanted to write a note saying the name challenge should be
fixed now.  I'll write all of you who are writing staggering
works of genius keep writing.  Yes we will get to that one later
there is an easy nine I subscribe to that we will discuss on the
conference calls here in a couple of months he uses that phrase
quite often.  Just a little tidbit if you're still reading this
crazy rambling message.  Have a wonderful writing day.  :-) keep
dreaming!
