Not all books from other countries are kept out of this country. It has to
do with the publisher and the laws. Some books, several, find markets in
America. Just currently, there's not a 100% exchange between countries.

Yes, it would be awesome if we could have access to books in other
countries. Not sure where the resistance on people signing this treaty is
coming from, when I was an LCB student last year I was supposed to go to
Washington Seminar, but could not because of the snow storm. I then see we
end up with the exact same laws people have worked so hard to fight for. Of
course, it did not help that half of the congresspeople could not show up
due to this storm.
Anyway, I digress because this isn't a Law-Chat list.

it can be a bit -plicated. I do hope that one day this will all work out. It
has nothing to do with whether the book takes place in England or anything
like that. If it's a U.S. author and their copyright is in the U.S. that
-plicates everything. Debby

point why Bookshare cannot give -flete access !p in Canada. There is an
agreement, but until the United States signs the WIPO Treaty this will
continue to be a pro#m. The U.S. has specific copyright agreements about
things being put in to braille or recorded, and until that treaty gets
signed by the U.S. Bookshare reY has no choice. I do not know the status of
that treaty. It would benefit us all, because we would also be able to get
books from other countries. But as of now, we cannot get books produced in
England, for instance. Take care, Debby
