Hello Writers,
I decided to drop all the extras from the subject since we are clearly
talking about marketing. Bridgit, you raise an interesting point about
financial return from self publishing vs. traditional publishing be it
with a "big-shot or a small press." I suppose until one is known, the
income is going to be modest in either case. Unfortunately, no
guarantees are assured that if you do this, that will occur. I think
we all agree with that. The thing we also may agree with is to avoid
the "vantage or vanity publishers" out there. Those who publish your
book for $1500.00 and then try and sell you more packages for
marketing or distribution or whatever.

For those of us who have found what works, amen, keep it going. For
those of us fine tuning what works, or even trying to determine just
what the heck that is, be patient and keep looking.
Amazon Kindle Direct publishes a newsletter every so often that I
think just about anyone can subscribe to, or maybe you have to have
been published there, but they offer some goodies on occasion. Another
good writing source is Grammar Girl Quick and Dirty Tips. You can find
a bunch of info there and get the weekly email from them. Maybe you
already do. I'm not an expert but learning just like the rest of us..
Glad to share and glad to hear what works for you too.
