[stylist] First notice of October Writers Division gathering

Hello Writers,

It is time once again to plan for our October Writers' Division gathering. The date for October will be Sunday October 22. Our speaker for october will be Robert Gardner, whose short story "Days are Evil" took second place in the 2017 NFB Writers' contest.

Robert Gardner has been involved with the Writers’ Division of the NFB for approximately ten years. His particular writing interest is short fiction and short non-fiction. He has had a handful of articles published, including some in the Braille Monitor and in the NFB Kernel book series. Several of his short stories have won in writing contests. 

Within the Writers’ Division, Robert has served both as a contest judge and a reviewer in the critiquing service of the Division. His involvement in the NFB has included being a chapter president and a member of the Illinois affiliate board. He is a graduate of BLIND, Inc., the NFB training center in Minneapolis. 

Robert lives with his wife in Hampton, a small town in northwestern Illinois on the Mississippi River. He has degrees in mechanical engineering from both Purdue University and Stanford University, and worked as an engineer his entire adult life. He is now retired.
