Shelley,
Hello, there! I did a royalty share with the narrator. So it was free of charge. I also did an exclusive contract for this recording with
Audible. For the royalty share, both the narrator and I receive 20% of the total price of the audiobook, and the price of the book is set by
Audible, based on the length of the recording.

For voices, just put out an announcement for auditions, and you'll get them pouring in. Listen, discern, run them by folks you think have good voice sense....

I hope that helps!
Helen

The hardest part was choosing the narrator, seeking the right affect, tone, cadence. I ended up choosing someone whose accent (South African) was not like mine (standard American). And I've gotten very positive feedback on that. My narrator was quick, responsive, easy to work with, highly responsible. I feel fortunate. I hope others have good experiences, and am happy to be in touch about it.
