[Stylist] Stylist Digest, Vol 174, Issue 13

Thank you, all, for your good wishes and shared celebration of the Audible version of Everyday Cruelty! I'm glad the detail was helpful for those considering it. Lynda, you asked about where to get it started? You just go to acx.com, and initiate it but claiming your book. After that you set up a call for auditions by uploading a short sample you want people to read. And you'll start getting auditions! Good luck, everyone!

Warmly,
Helen

The hardest part was choosing the narrator, seeking the right affect, tone, cadence. I ended up choosing someone whose accent (South African) was not like mine (standard American). And I've gotten very positive feedback on that. My narrator was quick, responsive, easy to work with, highly responsible. I feel fortunate. I hope others have good experiences, and am happy to be in touch about it.

>>> Hi, writers! I'm delighted to share with you all that my book -
>>> Everyday Cruelty: How to Deal with Its Effects without Denial, Bitterness, or Despair -has just come out as an audiobook on Audible. It's been in print (standard and large), braille, and Kindle for a while now, and it was just a good process of choosing and working with a narrator. Here's the link:

>>> your feedback, either to me directly, or -just as ideally -in the form of raring/review on the Audible page site and/or on the Amazon site.

>>> And, if folks are considering doing an Audible version of their book, I'm happy to loop around my truly positive experience.
