Hi Jackie,
I am thrilled to get a message from you.
Congratulations on your 90th Birthday - I think I have known you since your
early 80s through NFB Writer's Division.
You are a special person in my life and I always valued your comments on
anything you sent me.

Yes, I hope the group enjoyed my book. I was happy to share it with them.
This is why I write - because I love to share. I wanted to do something
special for your birthday, to celebrate it with you and your writing group
in this way.

At the moment I have a new manuscript finished - Star Signs: New and
Selected poems. I have it out to 2 publishers currently - and I am just
ABIDING and waiting for the right person to read it and want to publish it.
Last year I finished it up and I am practicing patience and abiding until I
feel the moment is right to proceed with it. This is a lesson in waiting and
patience for me. Meanwhile, I am beginning to write Book #4. It will be a
collection of memoirs from my life. I have the outline done and now will
work on writing and gathering the essays and stories for the book. I think
it will take me 2 years to do. I am now 75 years old - so I just take my
time doing things.

I've enjoyed a good year of publications of my work. My focus is on poetry
mostly - that is what speaks to my heart and what I have a passion for.
I love contemporary American poetry most of all. That is my academic
background - and where my heart is. One of the poets I did a review for
last year is Barbara Crooker - and her work just blows my mind. I reviewed
her book, "Les Fauves," for Wordgathering last year - and I loved doing a
review of something that was so deeply meaningful to me personally. I was
so glad to do it for them because I believe in her work so much.

I'll have 2 pieces published in the 2018 Proverse (Hong Kong) Anthology that
will come out in April. I love this publisher - and have the deepest respect
for the people who run this organization. am thrilled to have 2 poems in
the new anthology. I'd love to do more work with them - love what they do.
They are a class act.
Last year, I had 1 poem in that anthology. .

Much love to you, Jackie. How kind and generous you are to do editorial
work for several people. They are very fortunate to have you helping them.
I seldom critique anyone's work. I don't like to do that at all. I'd much
rather review an entire collection as a whole piece and respond to that.
Lynda

Lynda,
I thought your web message was a wonderful idea and contribution to emerging
writers.
I plan on forwarding it to the poetry group that you recently donated your
book too, ten copies. I am not sure you got feedback from them, for few
participate in social media. That includes me.
However they all have vision and hearing, and at least two have published
books.
I am hoping that your program and questions will motivate them to respond.
I resigned and was not active this last session, but on December 13th, they
had a wonderful 90th birthday party for me with members from many years past
that came. It was wonderful and almost brought me to tears. They consider me
their poet laureate.
My reason for resigning was two-fold. I felt my hearing made too much of a
load on the teacher, and also the transportation problem which was difficult
with my severe balance problem.
However, I am continuing with a small writing group at a senior center a few
miles from my home because the teacher picks me up and takes me home, and I
am concentrating on my full-length book on my family's five years in Uganda,
East Africa.
I am learning so much about the different genres of writing. My rough draft
of 700 pages now has to be cut to less than 500, and it is taking up all of
my time. No poetry for the moment.
I have an excerpt from it ready for publication, and the Alaska Quarterly
Review accepted the query letter, asked me for the full story, "Climbing the
Ruwenzori's, circa 1969" that has 15 pages, and 19 photos. They sent a free
subscription. That is encouraging, but it is over a month since I sent it.
I find many things difficult to accomplish in my Windows 10, but I keep
trying. I just like to write and often take the long way around rather than
using my writing time to memorize quick keys, etc.
I love reading your many posts. Though I read many of the others, I have not
been very active with my appreciative comments. I spend my time now trying
to critique six other writers posts to me because they want me to, and take
the time to e-mail their stories because they know I can hear my JAWS!
I will give you feedback if I hear from any of the poets.

Jacqueline Williams

Saturday is for Sharing - SCAN, Stats, Stories - Smokin' Good Stuff

Dear fellow writers,

I am revealing my performance STATS for SCAN-a-Blog articles for 2018.

You can read my post here: Click here!
<https://llambert363.blog/2019/01/05/scan-stats-stories-smokin-good/>

2018 was a year for growth in all areas of my personal and professional
life.

I am both student and teacher - and I am a life-long learner.

Writing my 2 blogs in 2018 taught me so much about the authors I presented
and the work they do.

My ONE WORD for LAST year was ABIDE. It was a year when I committed myself
to ABIDE in God and his WORD, and trust in his plan for me in all areas of
my life. I wanted to consciously seek his guidance and leadership in my
writing and art projects as well as my personal life. This ONE WORD I chose
gave me balance and patience.

In this latest blog post on Statistics, I give readers the Most-Read
article for the entire year.

I also revealed the TOP 3 authors who were Most Visited on my special
feature, Saturday is for Sharing. This feature highlights one author in an
interview format and I include information on the book or books for each of
them. We include photos and links where the books can be purchased.

I was happy to see that 2 of the 3 Most-Read interviews were authors are in
Behind Our Eyes. I share those authors and the links to their stories in my
post.

Throughout 2019, I will re-blog those 3 interviews so that they have even
more exposure this year.

I will continue to post new "Saturday is for Sharing" interviews in 2019 -
if you want to be included please contact me via E-mail. You can also read
the information on the blog by clicking on the top menu bar where it says,
"Saturday is for Sharing." I'd love to do more of the features with BOE
members this year to help our authors get additional recognition and
exposure, so don't hesitate to contact me about that.

Below is the text for the article on the blog today.
