Agree. Since we are promoting an org of blind people led by blind people,
always assumed the contest was specific to blind writers, regardless of
subject matter. Feel like we are watering down the phil of this org. Maybe
when the rest of the world stops showing able privelage, I will be less
inclined to be bothered by a sighted person winning something over a blind
person, but until that happens, maybe the so-called leading organized blind
movement should make contest like this specific to actual blind people,
regardless of level of blindness, but still, actually blind.

There are thousands of contests that are open to anyone. I thought that
since this was a division of blind writers who belong to the National
Federation of the Blind, that blindness might be a prerequisite.
Silly me.

Ok. I'll take the bait. I have no earthly idea what you guys are talking
about. Are you referring to that it says the contest is open to blind,
sighted or visually impaired people? If so, that's because it's open for
anyone to enter. People don't all write about blindness stuff. It's not a
requirement for your pieces. I'd be bored to tears reading that unless it
was a theme we chose, which we generally don't choose a theme.
