It isn't really a discussion though. Its just an invitation. Children are welcome to contribute with or without the help of their parents.
It is an invitation, you don't have to participate, or even support the project later, but some people would love to tell their stories and help others tell theirs, and we want to help them. I personally will be writing about the nonvisual techniques I use to help calm the clients I work with when they are struggling. This is an aspect people may not consider. How do you cross disability in the best way for the Autistic person, but also meet the other person's disabilities.
Anyway, I've already received messages from interested parties, and I don't think our personal opinions should color whether someone wants to be involved. Its an invitation, no pressure either way. Oh, also, parents of children would have to be involved at any rate, as children can not enter legal contracts for themselves. So by inviting parents into the process, we are protecting the rights of potential minor writers as well. Yes our experience matters most, but our network as disabled people is vast and intricate, and that should be reflected as well. If anyone is interested, please feel free to reach out to me, and please share with anyone who might be interested.
