Thank you. I was so pleased with the first show we did, that I wanted to
do one more. I graduate in December. I am truly hoping to expand where
we get submissions from, and I'd love to even see more attend who are
able and interested as well!

Please share, and spread the word. I will consider any submissions sent
to me from anywhere!

> TACTILE ART EXHIBIT AT CONCORD UNIVERSITY ISSUES CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS ATHENS, W.Va. – Organizers of an art show scheduled for this fall at Concord University are issuing a call for submissions. Artists from across the region are invited to submit their work for possible exhibition in “The Feeling of Art: A Tactile Multimedia Art Experience Part 2”.
> “The Feeling of Art” is a touchable art exhibit designed to allow everyone, including those who cannot see, an opportunity to enjoy art in a new way. The show will be displayed in the Arthur Butcher Art Gallery Oct. 8 – Oct. 12, 2018 with a reception planned for Thursday, Oct. 11 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The gallery is located in the Fine Arts Center on Concord’s Athens, WV campus.
> Professional artists, students, professors, children and members of the community are invited to submit art for the exhibit.  Work from preschool to adult artists will be eligible in any medium. All artwork submitted in the show must be durable and safe enough to be touched.
> Dr. Lauri Reidmiller, Associate Professor of Art, and Concord student Keri L. Svendsen, organizers of the exhibition, stated, “Our objective is to create a tactile art show that is accessible to all audiences.
> Everything in this show will be able to be touched and experienced regardless of sight. We hope to further the development of accessible art and cultural opportunities in our community.”
> This exhibition will be fun for adults and children alike, they said. It will give everyone the opportunity to get up close and personal in a unique gallery event. The reception on Oct. 11 will be free and open to the Concord University community and the general public. Earlier that morning area school children will attend the show.
> The upcoming October show is the second tactile art exhibit that Reidmiller and Svendsen have hosted on behalf of Concord University. The first was held in March 2016.
> Following the success of the inaugural event, Svendsen is looking forward to increasing the number of works on display with this fall’s exhibit. “We had 45 pieces in the last show and we want to make this bigger,” she said.
> There is no fee to enter. The deadline for entries is Sept. 1, 2018.
