Hello Everyone,

Please read through the following announcement and comment by writing
to the email address listed. This is a rare opportunity to advocate
for tactile art on a national level.

National Endowment for the Arts Strategic Plan FY 2022-2026 – Call for
Public Input!
Deadline for comments: March 31, 2021
Every four years, each federal agency is required to establish a new
strategic plan. The plan sets key priorities for the agency, and it
presents management-focused objectives and strategies. It also
describes potential risks and barriers that can impede performance.
The plan is a blueprint for understanding, communicating, achieving,
and monitoring the agency’s long-term goals.

Stakeholder consultation is a vital element of the planning process.
The National Endowment for the Arts, in preparing its FY 2022-2026
strategic plan, aims to solicit ideas and insights from the general
public, including arts organizations, artists, arts educators, state
and local arts agencies, other arts funders and policy-makers,
researchers, and individuals and groups outside the arts sector. For
example, the Arts Endowment welcomes input from schools and other
community-based organizations, colleges and universities, tribal
communities, civil rights groups, government agencies, and
businesses—including people from such diverse fields such as commerce,
communications, health, science, and technology.

The Arts Endowment envisions two public-comment periods. The first is
described below. The second will occur in the summer of 2021, after
the agency has developed a draft strategic plan. At that time, the NEA
again will post and widely distribute an opportunity for public
comment. Final strategic plans for federal agencies will be published
in February 2022.

For the first comment period, the Arts Endowment seeks public input
that will guide development of its FY 2022-2026 strategic plan. (For
reference, see the Arts Endowment’s FY 2018-2022 strategic plan. The
agency’s current strategic framework is on page 4.)

In particular, the agency welcomes thoughts on the drafting of its
strategic framework, which must include the following elements:

Mission
Vision
Strategic goals and objectives
Stakeholders may wish to comment on how these elements should be
viewed in light of new and emerging challenges and opportunities,
among other contextual factors.

Examples of these factors include, but are not limited to:

The post-pandemic recovery of the arts sector
Changes in work-and-leisure patterns
The rise of virtual engagement in the arts
Growing integration of the arts with other sectors (e.g., health,
science, education, technology, community development)
Greater public attention to issues of diversity, equity, inclusion,
accessibility, and social justice
Please email your comments to NEAstrategicplanninggroup at arts.gov.
