Greetings colleagues,

Carl was a good friend of mine.  Mary referenced when they were students 
at the orientation center together.  I remember visiting him when he was a 
student there.


I also recall Lee ROy as a student there <grin>.

I encouraged CArl to apply for that job she mentioned, at KRNT monitoring 
their a.m. transmitter during the overnight hours.
In those days during nighttime hours a broadcast engineer had to be at the 
transmitter site itself to make sure that the transmitter remained iwthin 
specs and broadcast a signal in a certain direction and nulled out others.
During the daytime hours its broadcast pattern was omnidirectional, so the 
transmitter could be monitored and controlled from their studios downtown 
Des Moines.

When Carl left that job he studied computer science at Grandview college, 
which now has another name iirc.  THen he took that job out in 
Pennsylvania.

I kept in touch with him over the years, but wasn't as diligent at keeping 
in touch after I moved back here ot Iowa in 2013.
