I share this with love and caring of my blind and sighted friends.
I am not the best writer nor am I an English major but I have learned to slow down and use the spell checker on my computer ever since I had one of my sighted friends jab me about misspelling words in an email I sent him. I used the excuse that I had learned through listening to tapes therefore never saw a lot of words spelled and that you sighted guys learned to spell a lot of words by just seeing them when reading.
He answered me he could understand that but how hard is it to use spell check, (F 7 on my computer)
Now I try to remember to use it every time I send something. It is not fool proof but it sure helps .
Sighted people may just think oh well their blind. Not the image we want to give.
Just another reason blind children and adults need braille so we could learn to be better spellers just by seeing words like our sighted friends.
Do and be your best.
Sincerely,
Rich Crawford

OOPS! I have jumped the gun just a little. We have begun the planning for the convention.
Our convention will be September 14-16 at the Holiday Inn and Suites Northwest.
We have seen a huge down turn in numbers, especially last year. A convention without people is like a day without sunshine. If we don’t improve on this, it will be hard to plan a convention. Last year we lost a considerable amount of money on the convention.
What are some reasons for having a convention:
To renew old and valued acquaintances and frienddships.
To make new and valued friends.
To network with others on issues—guide dogs, seniors, technology—you name it.
To hear what is going on at the natiional movement.
We come to learn. We come to play. We come to eat.
The convention is your convention; it is my convention; it is our convention. So what would you like tosee going on there? What would etince you to come?
The board meets on March 12. By March 11, I would like to hear your thoughts on why you aren’t attending conventions, and what would help you decide to do so. Think about no Zoom. We haven’t decidded that for sure yet, but your responses to me will help us make this decision. Dream a little. No idea is too crazy to bring up.
