Greetings, The Iowa General Assembly is off and running and so is your
Legislative team. So far our bill for accessible prescription labelling has
been introduced and has been assigned to subcommittees in each House. In the
next day or two we will be sending out a list of persons on those
subcommittees and everyone needs to contact those people to encourage them
to get the bill out of their subcommittee and on its way. A bill must be out
of committee before February 16 to be considered this year.
There have been no major developments on any other items of direct interest
to us but we are continuing to watch the Secretary Of State's Study bill
that would create a limited test pilot of mobile voting. It is not the one
we want since it still requires paper ballots to be returned. We are also
watching the bill that restructures the A.E.A.s in education but that bill
is only a watch item for us.
Starting on Monday February 26 the Legislative Committee will be holding a
monthly meeting on ZOOM for anyone to come and learn what is currently
happening and what will be needed next. The session is scheduled to end in
April so we plan to have 3 of these sessions on the fourth Monday of
February, March and April from 7:00 to 8:00 pm. This will be your chance to
ask questions and also learn what is currently happening. Please, plan to
join us.
