[Trainer-talk] For trainers in agencies: Accessible Scheduling Solutions?

At our center a couple of our computer tekkies have designed a database that
is accessible by all. That is what we use.
Unfortunately, the person who did the original design is no longer working
at our center. The other person just updates and maintains the existing data
base.

I've thought something somewhat similar to that could be doable, though I've
envisioned it with the instructional areas along the top, periods along the
left & students in the coordinates; it's basically the same general
structure as the paper system we have, and there's only one instructor for
each area.

the program manager has created an excel spread sheet with the class period
down one side, and the students name across the top, and in the cordinent
say for joe smith first hour he types in the class, and instructor, if it is
a class that has multiple instructors.
we schedule in a group meeting, and the sighted staff members have a copy of
the blank spread sheet, and hand write information in with pencil. I tend to
keep a slate and stylus with me, and as I get someone in my class I write it
down for myself, joe smith, 2nd hour...
If i forget, or am not present in the scheduling meeting, which happens
sometimes, I refer to the spread sheet on our shared network drive. It does
take a little bit of time to sort through and pick out my own schedule, but
it's accessible to me.
