In Outlook 2010, the default setting creates a new pst for every email account. When you create new accounts, be sure to explore the whole dialog. There's an option to create a new data file or select from existing files.

Choose the option to select from existing files and select your default pst.

To delete the additional folders, just delete the extra pst you created and they will go with it.

I'm not sure what you mean by rename your existing account. Perhaps you could elaborate?
