A better question to ask may be what part of the country are you
wanting to be a trainer? I say this since the requirements can differ
per state in the United States. There's really no golden standard that
everyone goes by; that would be too easy. I've known several people
that have gone through the Access Technology Institute, located at:
www.blindTraining.com

They have comprehensive online courses that seem to cover many areas
of training and software. The whole course is expensive and lasts 9
months, so if you are paying on your own, then this may be something
to consider.

Anyone interested in training I would recommend that they be a good
people person, know a lot about various technologies, including the
Office applications, internet Explorer/FireFox, the Apple I-devices
and VoiceOver, and other screen readers and mainstream software. I
would also highly encourage ongoing learning and participation, like
on an email list like this, but also in a social network like Twitter
or Facebook, or both. The social networks will help keep you updated
on what's goign on in technology in general, and will also help you
stay connected and network with people. A more professional social
network is Linked In, located at:
www.linkedIn.com

Just my 2 cents,
Wayne Merritt
