[Trainer-talk] Outlook?

Thanks, Fred. I agree with you.
I'll still teach it as much as I can, and I find that it actually is very
manageable. When folks are just learning to use a screen reader, they are
able to do email quickly, and then they can begin learning to manage the
internet with email without email getting in the way.

Hello,
I definitely believe Outlook is still relevant. As you state, it is very
common in government and the private sector. In my opinion, it is much more
efficient than web based email management. It works better for sighted
persons than for blind persons, though, it is admittedly manageable for a
blind person.
A second consideration may be that Window-Eyes is now free with MS Office.
So, this may save counselors budgets by not purchasing JAWS and providing
Office.
Those are my thoughts.

Hello,
I have a question for the trainers on this list.
How many of you are still teaching Outlook for email, and how many have
begun going away from that and mainly going to web-based mail?
The reason I'm asking is because there's been some discussion from an AT
person where I work, who buys equipment for clients, who questions
continuing to buy Office with Outlook and who questions my continuing to
teach the program unless the person already has it.
The argument is still that many offices and places of employment use
Outlook, along with several schools.
I was just curious what you thought.
