[Trainer-talk] Thoughts Microsoft Surface Pro 3

Hello All:

 

I am seriously considering acquiring Microsoft Surface Pro 3 256gb harddrive
with core i7 and windows8 for my personal use.

 

I already own a laptop (running JAWS and K1000), which I am very happy with,
not to mention the I-Phone 5.

 

The reason I am considering this purchase is I am looking for more
portability to use word and excel 2010 .

 

I am curious to learn if any of you have used/own the Surface Pro 3 with 256
GB hard drive and core i7 and windows8along with JAWS and K1000? I know JAWS
can run on the device but what aboutK1000? How about a braille display? I am
looking for specifics.

 

I would also be interested in learning how else you have used the device and
how successful your ventures have been e.g. internet searches, purchases off
amazon, banking, bookshare, BARB, Hadley School for the Blind, college web
sites, blackboard, etc.

 

Lastly, as I happen to work with persons with visual impairments/blindness,
specifically getting persons connected to you all as trainers, how have you
found the Surface Pro 3 to work in an educational setting e.g. high school
and college. Specifically would be most interested in answers as to how this
device works for a totally blind individual.

 

And just because this message has the potential to get many responses, I
will add one final question. How have you all used this device in a work
setting?
