I agree. I am getting closer to getting the "all stations go" from my
office.

Isn't Site Compass going to rig the hotel with iPhone beacons? I thought I
had heard this, but it might have been for another event. Those will let
you navigate to within a foot or so of what you are looking for.

Yeah. That happened with me a couple of years ago, too. I asked for some
help getting to a few places, but I mainly ended up doing it on my own.

But, here's an idea. Depending on when people get there and depending on
who's interested and who would like to be involved or even lead it, why not
have one or two sessions where we get together as a group and do some cane
travel lessons around the hotel and immediate area. We can talk about good
clues and landmarks and perhaps work on finding some specific rooms and
areas that we'll all need to find. We can either do it in one big group or
split off into smaller groups and then meet and talk about things.
We can make it a good and fun time of exploring and structured discovery.
It really sucks getting lost in those types of hotels and conferences, but
if we collaborate, it might not be so bad.

Just a thought.

Thoughts?
Jim

Likewise, the Braille maps were from the conference. They ran out because
they took the numbers to print, from registration, got that amount, and then
gave them out to first come first serve. So, people who hadn't reserved
one, got it anyway, and they ran out. I hope they have a better system this
year!

As I recall, I got one of the volunteers to help me find a specific booth or
two, but I don't think they will go around with you. I mostly do on my own,
a little frustrating at times, but manageable with patience.

Hello, although last year I went with help from a coworker to get to the
different booths and sessions, this year that may not be possible. I found
that the orientation given by the hotel was not very helpful, and they also
ran out of brailled maps. One service I didn't take advantage of was the
volunteers. Will they walk around with you, or do they remain at their
posts? Are they CSUN employees, or regular hotel staff?
Thanks,
Matthew
