[Trainer-Talk] NFB and WhatsApp?

For us Americans, WhatsApp doesn't do much; calls are practically free or
slightly tied to whatever data plan one may have with a service provider.
However, if one travels quite a bit, as Dean stated inter alia, WhatsApp can
be a true link that can connect a call for you should you need to call home.
Most countries MAY NOT LIKELY provide sufficient data to make this happen
and if they do, the cost could kill more mocking birds than one can count.

I live and breathe Android; on this platform, WhatsApp is reasonably usable,
but not completely accessible! For example, if one is typing a text message
and one wants to check that a particular word is spelled correctly, it is
NOT possible to do a character by character check on the word in question
regardless of which direction one swipes, back or forward! Same goes for
looking at words word by word! Perhaps it has more love on the iOS
platform, but I'll LEAVE IT TO BEAVER and wait to be straightened out or
educated some.

Correspondences have been sent to WhatsApp to have stuff labelled correctly
for better accessibility, but thus far, we keep HITTING AGAINST stonewalls!

Notwithstanding what I've written above, WhatsApp is reasonably usable if
one is willing to learn how to play with it. One could set up any group and
invite anyone to join the group. It is NOT POSSIBLE to have a THREE-WAY
phone conversation using WhatsApp, and there's NO CALL WAITING! If in a
conversation and a call comes through to the phone in use, it will
temporarily disrupt the conversation on WhatsApp and the individual one's
chatting with may not necessarily know that. As far as I know, one CAN'T
HOLD GROUP CONVERSATIONS on WhatsApp as is the case on Skype. There is, if
memory serves, a group of several blind folks on the international circuit
that has something going on WhatsApp. I don't have the details on this
group presently, but I'll try to fish for it if desired and post here if I
don't get too lazy! Please note that in order to use WhatsApp, the
individual with whom one is trying to establish a contact on it must also
have the app installed and running! Finally, enjoy WhatsApp, play with it
and make a conclusion! Happy WhatsApping!!

Sincerely,
Olusegun
