You can get NVDA to read the column header by pressing NVDA Shift C. Use NVDA Shift R for row headers. The really nice thing about this is it saves the info directly to the Excel files so that it will then also work for the Jaws users to. If you want to clear the3 header reading settings just hit NVDA Shift C or R twice quickly.
Hope this helps.

Subject: [Trainer-Talk] NVDA and Excel
Hi there.
Does anyone use or teach NVDA with Excel? If so, how well does it work? I
generally teach it with JAWS and have taught it with WindowEyes, but this
student has NVDA on his computer.
My current question is this. How can I get NVDA to do the equivalent of
JAWS verbosity? I want NVDA to be able to read the column titles when he's
filling them out.
I'll be spending some time brushing up on NVDA, but I needed the answer
sooner than not.
Thanks.
Jim
