Unfortunately, that automatic numbering setting is well buried. Alt+f, t for
word options, p for the proofing category, tab into the category and press
space on autocorrect options, Ctrl+Tab to the AutoFormatAsYouType tab, then
tab through and clear most of the check boxes.

Howdy,

I'm now using MS Office 365, and I am having trouble turning some things off
that I used to remember how to do.

Basically, with both Word and Outlook, how do I turn off the automatic
numbering feature? I thought it was in the Options area.

Also, does anyone know if there's an automatic headers feature that can be
deactivated? I ask because when I was trying to format a document that was
sent to me, I kept getting heading levels put in as I was formatting.

Thanks much.

Jim
