[Trainer-Talk] Help with Silenzio

Kelsey,

While I have heard about these issues from some Realtek sound card drivers I haven't noticed them and I'm assuming it's probably because I'm using generic sound card drivers from Microsoft. I found this article from Neosmart<https://neosmart.net/wiki/fix-realtek-audio-delay-lag/> which documents the process for replacing the Realtek sound card drivers with a generic driver from Microsoft. If this method works it will likely fix the issue with the sound card going to sleep and should then negate the need to use Silencio. Please note that I have not actually done this. There is a possibility that speech access may temporarily go away during the transition from the Realtek driver to the Microsoft driver and in case something goes terribly wrong and you lose speech completely I would have a sighted person on standby to provide assistance, even if it's AIRA, assuming that you're an AIRA user.

Subject: [Trainer-Talk] Help with Silenzio

Hello,

I am hoping someone can help. I installed Silenzio on my Lenovo laptop to solve the very annoying speech clipping I was having with JAWS. It fixed the problem, but now I cannot seem to update it. I keep getting a notification of an update. I download it, run the setup, only to be warned that I must close all instances of Silenzio before continuing with the update. However, there's no way to quit the program, so I cannot get the update to go through. I've tried all the usual ways of quitting the program, but there's no way to kill it so I can do this update. Does anyone have experience with this program? How can I kill Silenzio so I can update it? This is driving me crazy.
