Hello Curtis. Yes, a bit of a catch 22 for sure.
Thanks for this confirmation.

Hello Raul:

Yes! What you do is go right click on the shared file (in the browser, of
course), move to and activate Organize, then activate Add a shortcut. A
dialog appears asking you where you want to place the shortcut. Thus, you
would place the shortcut in a folder that the Windows client enables you to
see. I test this, and it worked. However, bear in mind that when looking at
the list of files shared with you, the same bug that makes it difficult if
not impossible to navigate quickly and efficiently through the list of files
exists in the Chromium-based browsers.

Kind regards,

Curtis Chong

Hello Curtis. I'm wondering, if you were to add a shortcut to the shared
file so that it appears in My Drive, will it work from the Desktop client?
Note, I have not tried this myself as I write this, so might be shooting in
the dark. I too, agree, that Google should have addressed this issue years
ago.

Brian:

This solution is the most efficacious one I know about, but be aware that
Google Drive Desktop does not give you access to the folder which lists
"files shared with me".

After many years, Google still has not remedied this problem with Google
Drive Desktop.

Kind regards,

Curtis Chong
