Position Title: Access Technology Instructor
Organization: Computers for the Blind
Location: Richardson, TX (On-site or Remote)
Employment Type: Part-Time (20 hrs/week)
Reports To: Executive Director
About Us
Computers for the Blind (CFTB) is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization dedicated to bridging
the digital divide for the community of the blind and visually impaired. We do this by
providing affordable refurbished computers and training. We are seeking a passionate and
knowledgeable Access Technology Instructor to help empower individuals who are blind or
visually impaired through technology training.
Job Description
Are you passionate about accessibility, technology, and helping others succeed? Join the
team at Computers for the Blind as an Access Technology Instructor and help students
build confidence and independence through access technology training. This position is
ideal for a trainer who enjoys teaching students of all skill levels in a supportive and
encouraging environment. Instructors will provide live online training sessions using Zoom
and help students gain practical technology skills they can use at home, school, work, and
in everyday life.
Key Responsibilities

• Teach live remote classes using Zoom
• Provide instruction in screen readers, magnification software, and accessible technology
• Develop engaging, easy-to-follow curriculum and training materials
• Support students with varying levels of technology experience
• Encourage student confidence, independence, and problem- solving skills
• Track student progress and provide feedback as needed
• Collaborate with the training team to improve course offerings and accessibility
practices
• Maintain a positive, professional, and inclusive learning environment

Qualifications
Required:

• 2024 to Current JAWS certification
• Strong working knowledge of the Office Suite of Applications, Google Suite of
applications, Windows accessibility and access technology
• Excellent verbal communication and teaching skills
• Experience writing curriculum, lesson plans, and training materials
• Experience with remote meeting software, and ability to teach remotely
• Ability to explain technical concepts in simple, understandable ways
• Patience, professionalism, and a passion for helping others learn
• Commitment to the mission and values of Computers for the Blind

• Certifications or advanced experience with JAWS, NVDA, Fusion, and/or ZoomText welcomed
• Experience teaching individuals who are blind or visually impaired
