Thank you for sharing this opportunity. I appreciate the work that Computers
for the Blind does to help bridge the digital divide and provide technology
training to blind and visually impaired individuals.

One aspect of the posting caught my attention, particularly in light of
recent discussions on this list regarding certifications for assistive
technology professionals. While I understand that the JAWS and ZoomText
certification exams may be available at no cost, obtaining and maintaining
the actual certifications can still present a financial barrier for some
qualified candidates. Even if the cost of a certificate is relatively
modest, it may still be out of reach for individuals who have the knowledge,
skills, and teaching experience necessary to perform the job effectively.

I would encourage organizations to consider pathways for otherwise qualified
applicants who may not yet hold the required certifications. For example,
providing support for certification attainment after hiring could help
expand opportunities for talented trainers who have substantial real-world
experience but may face financial obstacles to obtaining or maintaining
credentials.

Personally, I will not be applying for this position. My decision is not
related to the organization itself, but rather to my preference for pursuing
long-term, permanent opportunities. Part-time positions, particularly those
that do not appear to offer a pathway to permanent employment, are generally
not a good fit for my career goals at this stage.

That said, I hope this opportunity proves to be an excellent fit for someone
on this list who is looking to build or expand a career in access technology
training. I wish all applicants the very best and hope the selected
candidate finds great success in the role.
