pathways for otherwise qualified
applicants who may not yet hold the required certifications."
All I'll add to this is I second the motion. I have found, over the course
of my career, that a very great many who "rack up" certification after
certification seem to do an almost instant knowledge purge after passing
the test, and many have limited actual experience using the software
they've become certified for. This isn't to say that everyone, or nearly
everyone, who seeks certifications fits this pattern. But using
certifications as a rule-in/rule-out in the field of AT is not a wise
move. They should be a part of a mix, and there can be individuals who
lack any certification(s) who are better suited. It just takes more work
on the part of the interviewers to ferret out whether the essential
qualities exist or not (which they should be doing, anyway).
