Dean,

BTW, it will matter what email protocol the account you reference uses
under Outlook.  Right now Outlook (new) only supports rule creation for
MS-Exchange protocol.

This actually makes some sense, as rules are typically applied on the
server side, whether for IMAP or Exchange, and Outlook, whether Classic or
New, has always been focused on working most smoothly with MS-Exchange
protocol.

For my Gmail accounts all filters and labels are handled on the Gmail
server side and the labels propagate out to Outlook and other email clients
as IMAP folders.
