[Trainer-Talk] Navigating the Rotor by Form Controls

Good morning,
Yes, this will have to be done remotely. I'm glad you got that to come up finally. When using the Roter make sure to keep rotating until the desired option comes up. If there are a lot of the settings turned on it might take a bit for them to locate that.

Hi Showe:

Check your settings in VoiceOver > Rotor. Change Rotor with Item should be turned on. Use Edit Rotor in Text Fields is, on my phone, turned on.

Unfortunately, I am thinking you have to do all of this with your student remotely.

Cordially,

Curtis Chong

Hi Curtis.
I will try my best to explain the situation. I am trying to teach an individual how to navigate the rotor to navigate by form controls. They had a bunch of items on their rotor but was not finding forms. Form Controls is selected in their rotor but it just won't populate when they are on a page with form fields. I have an HTML page that I created that has different fields on it. When I emailed the htm attachment to them, they can see and read the forms when they swipe right but they couldn't use the rotor to move by form fields. I asked them to remove containers off their rotor just for the heck of it and form controls finally showed up on their rotor. How weird was that? Then when they tried navigating the form, they could only see the first form field. They tried the 3 finger swipe up to scroll down the page and they could no longer see the form control option on the page. I tried having them go on a website but their keyboard input is so bad that they couldn't even type in google.com in the address field in safari. I should also add that they are deafblind and they use cochlears with Braille displays on their phone which is an iphone 17Pro and are running the latest build of IOS 26 without going to 27! Which is horrible with hearing aids because VO keeps crackling btw... Anyway, I then tried having them go on the Metro MSP app because you should be able to see the form fields on that app. I can see all of them when I navigate on the rotor using my phone. This client can't. The best way I can explain it is that it almost seems like VO is not autoscrolling and they can only see the form fields that are actually visible on one screen without scrolling down. I can see all the fields but my VO seems to be autoscrolling. I hope this makes sense. I don't know how to set my phone to mimic the setting my client has going on so I can help them reset it. We of course have tried restarting the phone. I am so stumped! Thanks for any insight anyone has...

For example, I can navigate all forms by swiping down on form controls on the rotor but my client can't and they can only see 2 form fields. Hoping someone knows this fix...
