Here is a response from the home office about the issue with NCL.

I hope this helps those with issues with any form of travel.

We have a response....and, as you and I suspected, the agent on the phone gave you incorrect information. Please let me know if you have the name of that agent so we can make sure to give it to NCL for them to follow up with proper training.

Thank you and kind regards,

Debbie,

Thank you so much for contacting us with this matter. Unfortunately this guest has given the wrong information by the agent that she spoke to. We do not require blind guests to travel with any escorts or companions at all. We also offer private tours on embarkation date in case that they wish to become familiar with their surroundings onboard.

I am very disappointed that these guests were given the wrong information. If possible please provide me with the name of the agent that talked to them so that I can address this issue.

Also if you can email me this couples information such as complete names, ship, sailing date and category they were looking into or their contact number I will make sure to have one of our agent contact them and assist.

Please extend our sincere apologies to this couple.

Subject: Blind Passenger Policy

Hi,

I'm the inside sales support for our Home Based Agent Division at Montrose Travel (05655296) and we have been posed with an inquiry about NCL's policy on blind travelers. We have a few agents who are blind and one is actually on the board of the Greater Long Island Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind. She contacted NCL about making a reservation for a blind couple and was told that they would need to bring along an escort in order to sail.

Can you please send me the policy or any information you have on this? The agent is quite upset and feels this is discrimination and illegal.

Please advise at your earliest opportunity.

Thank you and kind regards,
